An empowering International Women’s Day

Thank you very much to all our members who helped make International Women’s Day 2019 so memorable. We explored the theme of empowerment. We asked our female members ‘What has empowered you most in your career to date?’ and we made a video with your inspiring responses. You can see the video here.

On the morning of International Women’s Day, we welcomed over 150 members to a breakfast event. Our CEO Mary O’Dea gave a warm welcome and set the empowering tone for the event. Áine McCleary, the first female IoB president, was interviewed by Olive White. Áine reflected on her career to date and spoke of how the landscape of banking and financial services had changed for women. She spoke also about the role that the Institute will play to help break down further barriers for women.

Elaine Russell then spoke on the theme of 'Using Your Strengths and Being Yourself'. Elaine spoke powerfully about how to play to your own strengths, gaining power by being yourself and how to have your message heard.

Thanks to all those who contributed a story or a photo to the video to those who attended the event. All photos are available here.
