Speaker - Dr Kate Cullen
Dr Kate Cullen is the Director of Executive Education and Assistant Dean with the Institute of Banking, where she leads the delivery of board and exco specialist programmes and bespoke training for the financial services sector. A BComm (Banking and Finance), MBS (Financial Services), and PhD graduate (KPMG Doctoral Scholar in Accounting) from University College Dublin, Kate worked for over a decade in wealth management and management consulting, where she held a variety of financial services advisory roles, prior to joining UCD as a member of their business faculty in 2010. Kate continues to lecture and research ethics, culture and decision making biases, with a particular focus on board level behavioural dynamics.
About the Programmes
This taster session will span topics relevant to a number of our programmes.
The Professional Certificate in Consumer Protection Risk, Culture and Ethical Behaviour in Financial Services is aimed at all staff working in financial services ranging from new entrants to senior managers. The emphasis of this programme is on developing an effective consumer-focused culture within financial services. It is a highly practical qualification, which focuses on areas including: Conduct risk; Consumer Protection Risk Assessment (including product design, sales process, post-sales handling and good customer outcomes); Ethics; Expected behaviours; and Diversity and inclusion.
Our postgraduate programme, the Professional Diploma in Leading Cultural Change and Ethical Behaviour in Financial Services, is aimed at executives and experienced senior managers working across a range of sectors, roles and functions. This programme, designed in consultation with leading academic and industry experts, will provide participants with both the knowledge and tools to lead and embed an effective, consumer-focused culture in their organisations.
Our MSc in Compliance is designed to give Compliance and other control professionals the knowledge and skills they need to implement effective compliance structures and enhance the overall internal governance structures of organisations. This programme will provide participants with the multi-disciplinary skills to participate more effectively in compliance management and to understand a practical application of compliance best practice. It is ideal for those who work in a control function within a financial services organisation and will be of particular interest to Compliance managers and senior managers together with those aspiring to these roles.
Leading with Agility is a leadership programme that equips participants with the leadership skills necessary to adapt and be agile at times of sectoral, technological and cultural disruption and uncertainty. Past participants are people leaders and senior managers and executives from across the financial services, professional services and public services sectors. The programme draws on best practice insights from the Harvard School of Leadership and includes 1-1 executive coaching, group workshops, masterclasses, and focuses on intensely practical applications of the learnings for participants themselves and their organisations.
