In association with Summit Finuas Skillnet and Irish Funds, the Institute of Banking is delighted to host a taster lecture for the new Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services – a level 8 UCD accredited programme commencing in February 2019.
Cathal will discuss the sectoral challenges and trends in the industry, including changes in the regulatory landscape and how the market has evolved and where the key growth areas are. Post Brexit, Ireland's financial services sector will face one of its biggest challenges but also the opportunity to expand its reach.

Speaker - Cathal O’Daly
Cathal is a Senior Vice President and Head of Relationship Management and Client Service at Northern Trust Ireland. He joined Northern Trust in February 2018, having previously worked in the organisation from 1995 to 2005.
Prior to re-joining Northern Trust, Cathal spent 13 years at Citibank where held a number of senior management roles including Head of Financial Institutions (Client Relationship Management and Sales), Head of Product Management (Global Fund Services Ireland) and Director of Sales (Cash Management). He was also a Board member of Citi’s Fund Services legal entities.
Cathal was elected to Council of Irish Funds Industry Association in 2014 and was previously Vice Chair of the Industry’s Marketing Committee. He was also a Board Member of Junior Achievement Ireland.
He holds a BA Degree, a Masters in Economics and a Masters in Finance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking, holds a Certificate in Investment Fund Services and qualified in International Cash Management with the Association of Corporate Treasurers (UK) in 2017. He has also lectured in Finance at the Institute of Banking, UCD and the National College of Ireland.
His pastimes include sports coaching (he qualified as a Youth Sports Coach from Coaching Ireland in 2016), reading and local history.
The Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services – who’s is the programme for?
The Professional Diploma in International Investment Fund Services is for fund industry professionals with a number of years’ experience who are in team leadership or supervisory roles with responsibility for fund administration processes or functions (e.g. TA/Valuations) domestically or have oversight of those functions carried out in outsourced providers globally. The programme seeks to provide you with a detailed understanding of the legal and regulatory framework within which fund administration services are provided. The aim is to enable you to anticipate regulatory developments and their impact on the business. The programme also aims to develop your risk assessment skills related to fund administration operations. It will also develop your understanding of investment management, to enable you to understand fund management assets allocations decisions and the impact and implications for the funds services provider’s operations.
