About the event

This talk explores the history of financial bubbles from Tulipmania right up to the Global Financial Crisis. We also touch on the Irish residential property bubble, which when it burst had devastating consequences not only for the Irish banking system but also for the entire macroeconomic system, leading to a €64bn bailout from the Troika. We discuss how bubbles are not random events but rather follow predictable patterns. They are not simply economic phenomena and have deeply rooted emotional and psychoanalytical aspects.

This event will give attendees the opportunity to sample a typical lecture on the Professional Certificate in Asset Management. This single-module postgraduate programme has been designed in response to a need in the banking and insurance industries to upskill managers/advisors in the area of investment advice, above and beyond the minimum competency code requirements.

The certificate provides the first stepping-stone to those considering taking the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and the full Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation.

We are now accepting applications for this programme which will begin in February 2018 – further information and online application is available here.
