About the event

The financial services sector faces unprecedented disruption from consumer, technology and regulatory forces, these big strategy issues must be addressed by leader to ensure survival. Achieving this requires new strategy questions. In this presentation these new questions will be identified and solutions reached by other firms discussed. The output will be an agenda for leaders in the financial services sector to return to their firms and examine their own challenges through fresh eyes.

Abouth the speaker

Prof. Damien P. McLoughlin 
Anthony C. Cunningham Professor of Marketing

Damien McLoughlin is Anthony C. Cunningham Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Ireland. He has previously served on the faculty of the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and the Indian School of Business. Between 2011 and 2014 he was a faculty member on the Harvard Business School Agribusiness seminar, and continues to contribute to this programme as a researcher. His recent contributions have been C-suite case studies of Nestlé and Ocado. Since 2014 he has been a visiting professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University. In 2015 and 2017 Damien was a faculty member on the Purdue University Food and Agribusiness Executive Summit. Damien has published more than seventy papers and two books on strategy and marketing issues.  He has also written more than twenty-five case studies, mainly relating to leadership and strategy issues in global food and agribusiness, covering all geographies and major sectors.

He has consulted and led executive programmes in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa, while working with a number of the world’s leading organisations including Alltech, Allianz, Bobst, Bord Bia (The Irish Food Board), Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), Dawn Farm, EY, Eversheds, Google, Hewlett-Packard, ICON, Independent News & Media, Microsoft, Rabobank, Ridley, Ryanair, Smurfit Kappa Group and Zespri. He is also an experienced board member, having served a number of public and private sector organisations as a director and consultant. 

Damien holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Dublin City University, a Master of Business Studies degree from University College Dublin and PhD in Marketing from Lancaster University (UK).
