One of the highlights of our year is our graduation ceremony. We love seeing our members rewarded for their hard work and having the opportunity to celebrate their achievement with proud family and friends.  We applaud all those who achieve academic success (and indeed those who support them to do so) in the midst of managing busy working and home lives. This year two Graduation Ceremonies are scheduled on Saturday 15 October 2016.

This breakfast seminar considered the emerging disruption of the financial services sector. Forces driving this disruption include nonbank digital entrants, the digitisation of retail banking and the bulldozer of demographic change. After reviewing these forces, the seminar moved to consider how financial services organisations must innovate to respond. The Institute of Banking was pleased to host a free breakfast briefing on 13 April.

This breakfast briefing gave you an understanding of what a project is and how are they defined. What do we mean when we talk about methodology and lifecycle?
Orla Nugent drew on her experience to discuss how to successfully deliver on a project while managing stakeholders and demonstrating an understanding of the governance that may be involved. CPD hours will apply.

9 December 2015 - "The changing future of data protection law; recent and upcoming changes." Free Postgraduate Breakfast Briefing in association with the ACOI and Summit Finuas Network.

Denis Kelleher, LLD, Barrister-at-Law is author of ‘Privacy and Data Protection Law in Ireland (2015)’ and currently a Senior Lawyer the Legal Division of the Central Bank of Ireland. He will discuss recent judgments of the Court of Justice of the EU (for example the recent Safeharbour decision in Schrems v Data Protection Commissioner).
An update on the EU proposals for reform will also be presented along with an update on the impact of technological changes such as Internet of Things and Fintech.

 

3 December 2015 - Conduct Risk – what is it and who cares anyway?

The presentation will give a regulatory perspective on what conduct and consumer risk is and also explain the roles that employees have in identifying and managing that risk and in doing so, getting it right for consumers. It will cover the relationship between conduct risk, corporate culture and product oversight and governance, as well as the costs of getting it wrong.
